Sumner Kaufman founded Kaufman & Company in 1978 and currently serves as President. Mr. Kaufman’s investment banking career spans nearly five decades and nearly 150 transactions. Clients have ranged from Fortune 1000 publicly traded companies to early stage technology ventures and include Wang Laboratories, Camp Dresser & McKee, Bluebird Inc., Northern New England Gas Corp., Branch Group, Inc., The Boston Phoenix, West Lynn Creamery, Kurzweil Technologies, and many others. Prior to founding Kaufman & Company, Mr. Kaufman spent nearly twenty years at White, Weld & Company, Inc., where he was a Partner and Manager of the Boston Corporate Finance Department. Prior to White, Weld, Mr. Kaufman was an Associate at Ira, Haupt and Co. and Kidder Peabody & Co. Mr. Kaufman received his Bachelor of Arts from Harvard College and has either served or currently serves on several Boards of Directors and Boards of Advisors including Bluebird Inc., Camp Dresser & McKee, Inc., Cook Family Foods, Ltd., Leasing Technologies, Inc., the Venture Capital Fund of New England, and Radio Station WBUR. When not closing transactions, Mr. Kaufman can be found on the tennis courts or sailing his 1961 Beetle Cat in Cotuit Bay.
