Eugene M. Freedman is the Chairman of Kaufman & Company’s
Senior Advisory Board. Over the past five decades in his
financial services and consulting and accounting career, Mr.
Freedman has worked with companies ranging in size from seed
stage to Fortune 50 across several industries including
retail, technology, manufacturing, apparel, finance,
marketing, publishing, insurance and banking, utilities,
telecommunications and others.
Previously, Mr. Freedman co-founded and served as President
of Monitor Clipper Partners, Inc., a private equity firm; he
also served as Senior Advisor of Monitor Company Group L.P.,
an international business strategy and consulting firm.
Prior to Monitor, Gene was Chairman and Chief Executive
Officer of Coopers & Lybrand LLP, U.S. and Chairman of
Coopers & Lybrand International. During his years at Coopers
& Lybrand, Gene professionally served high growth,
technology and retail and distribution clients and was
professionally involved in a variety of acquisitions,
divestitures and financial restructurings on behalf of
strategic and financial buyers.
Mr. Freedman received his degree in economics from the
Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and a
master's degree in economics from Columbia University.
He has served or is currently serving as a director (or
trustee) of: several large publicly held retail, software,
and fincial services firms, including Limited Brands, Inc.,
EPOCH Holding Corporation, Pathmark Stores, Inc., and
Computervision Corporation; several private companies,
including medical information provider Outcome Sciences,
Inc. and roadside assistance and home warranty business
Cross Country Group, Inc.; and numerous business and civic
organizations, including the American Stock Exchange, Beth
Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Columbia Business School,
and the Boston Symphony Orchestra.
